What if Jesus had Never Come…

Published by Bonnie on

The Christmas season is in full-swing, and yet a pause is necessary to the hustle and bustle.  What if Jesus had never come to the manger in Bethlehem?  Why is his coming so significant?

If He had never come, He could never have gone to the Cross.  If He had not come as one of us, though sinless, He could not stand in the path of judgement on our behalf.  He could never have fully satisfied God’s wrath against sin for all who come by faith.

We would ultimately be left wondering…hoping…and seeking God on our own terms.  Still trying to work our way to some sort of salvation, hoping that the goodness we try to do on our own is good enough.  Good enough to please a God that we still don’t really know.

I’m so very thankful that He came…for me.  This is the ultimate gift to share with others…the gift of salvation. Not based on anything we could ever do, but solely based on God’s great love, mercy and grace.

“O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free
Thine own from Satan’s tyranny
From depths of Hell Thy people save
And give them victory o’er the grave
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.”
